Tomato Sauce Kway Teow

Tomato Kuay Teow


I have never heard of this dish, let alone eaten it before.
Took the recipe off Y3K Recipes.
And all I could say now after eaten my fill on those yummy kway teow,

According to the magazine, It’s known as “ Sarawak’s Renowned Tomato Sauce Kway Teow". ( Kreai !! Ring a bell ??? )
I am not a tomato sauce person…….thus.. I ate mine with lots of sliced chilli padi and it is GOOD.

Tomato Sauce Kway Teow
(Serves 2-4)

What U need:

  • 300g Kway Teow
  • 4tbsp Garlic – minced
  • 300g Chye sim – cut into sections
  • 10 Fish balls
  • 2 pcs Fish cake – sliced thinly
  • 100g Prawns – shelled & tails intact

Seasonings (A)

  • 4tbsp Soy Sauce

Seasonings (B)

  • 150g Tomato sauce
  • 3tbsp White vinegar
  • 3tbsp White sugar
  • ½tsp Salt
  • 350ml Water

For Thickening:

  • 2tbsp Corn flour
  • 2tbsp Water

Method:

  1. Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a wok.
  2. Sauté 2 tbsp of minced garlic.
  3. Add in the kway teow and seasoning (A), fry on high heat till well mixed, dish up & set aside.
  4. Heat another 2 tbsp of oil in wok, sauté 2 tbsp of minced garlic.
  5. Add fishballs, fish cake, and fry till fragrant.
  6. Add chye sim & give it a few stirs.
  7. Add seasonings (B) and bring to boil.
  8. Add thickening sauce and bring to boil.
  9. Dish the kway teow & spoon the sauce over with the ingredients.
  10. Serve at once.

The above recipe is not word for word from the magazine, I tweaked it a little to give it some extra flavor. Enjoy!!
